Public Policy Research and Advocacy in Vermont, 2005-2006 Independent Consultant providing public policy research, analysis and advocacy services to nonprofit organizations. Projects include: Researched and collaborated in writing and editing report "Medicaid & Catamount Outreach: A Report to the Legislature and Agency of Human Services."
Advocated in House Human Services Committee and Senate to pass H.404 - Access to Mental Health and Substance Abuse Providers. Governor signed the bill May 2006.
Researched and developed study “Scenarios for Health Care Insurance Coverage”. Presented study to the House Health Care Committee.
Produced a weekly report on Health Care Reform progress in the legislature. Update sent to 150 advocates and posted to VPIRG and VTHCA websites. |
IBM Government Relations Director for Latin America Position located in Washington, DC with extensive travel to Latin America. Raised and managed $1million budget to build government relations team to represent IBM in Latin America. Advocated public policy issues to US Congress, US Trade Office and Latin American Ministers of Finance. Frequently briefed business executives and government officials, and conducted workshops on public policy issues. Developed relations with key members of Congress and staff IBM Advisor to National Institutes of Health 1987 – 1991 Managed joint project with NIH and IBM researchers to use image scanning technology to identify DNA structure of HIV virus. Advised National Institute of Cancer on use of supercomputing to determine the DNA structure of proteins. |
